Habitats & Minibeasts (RL01)

Investigate the pond, wetland, woodland or spoil heap. Search for wildlife in the varied habitats of the site: Why do creatures live where they do? What is a habitat?.

What is Sculpture? (RL04)

A woodland walk visiting sculptures on site and making small group sculptures. Included in the activity - Explore sculptures at first hand and identify the differences using your senses.

Where do I go? (RL02)

Use a map to go exploring around Conkers woodland. Search for hidden clues to find the secret word. Included in activity - Groups will be encouraged to discuss the key, the features and where they are.

Underwater Wonderland (RL06)

What lives beneath the surface of the water? How do they move? What shape are they? What colour are they? Use pond nets and observation trays to find out. Included in activity - Each group chooses their favourite creature and finds out as much as they can about it, with help from the ranger.

Mud Monsters (RL5)

Create creatures out of Woodland materials, old clothes needed! Which animals feed on each other? Link them in a food chain/web. Included in activity - Children will work with pictures of creatures and place these in a food chain/web.

Robin’s Winter Warmer (RL17)

Join in our story, Robin’s Winter Warmer, about Robin and his friends. Make a woodland mask then go for a walk in the woods with the ranger. Learn about the forest and how the creatures survive the winter.

Nursery Nature Ramble (RL10)

Enjoy a short sensory walk with the ranger. Hunt for minibeasts lurking in the forest. Collect woodland treasures to make into group collages. Include in activity - Children will be encouraged to explore the things that they find focusing on smells, textures, sounds, colours and shapes.

Woodland Web (RL14)

Join the ranger in making a giant food web. Play the role of a producer, herbivore or carnivore. What happens when your food is taken away? Make a simple food chain book to take back to school. Include in activity - Children take on the name of an organism and place themselves into the food chain incorporating the use of the terms producer, herbivore or carnivore.

Music of the Forest (RL18)

Investigate the sounds of the forest and learn to create your own instruments using nature’s magic. Included in activity - Children will explore the sounds of the forest and the life that lives in it, as well as using their own voices as an instrument.

Puppets & Storytime (RL13)

Investigate the world of puppets. Make an individual stick puppet to use in an interactive woodland storytime with the ranger. Included in activity - Take a short walk through the woodland to see the forest and the different habitats involved.

Teddy Bear’s Grand Adventure (RL11)

Join a ranger for a walk in the woods following Jeremy the teddy bear. Learn about the forest and join in our story ‘Jeremy’s Grand Adventure’. Included in activity - Children get ready for teddy bear hunting by jumping up and joining in the story, ‘We’re all Going on a Bear Hunt’. They then walk through the woods to find pictures of Jeremy and the same trees that Jeremy found in the story.

Mother Nature Designer (RL09)

Take a sensory walk through the woodland. Use your senses to investigate shapes and textures in nature. Collect natural materials to produce individual collages. Included in activity - Children are encouraged to use their senses to investigate and offer adjectives to describe the textures, smells, sounds and colours that they encounter on the ranger led interactive woodland walk.

Secret Life of Seeds (RL07)

Search for seeds and investigate how they are spread. Use clues from the wind dispersed seeds to make kites.

Marvellous Maths (RL15)

Have fun searching for and solving mathematical problems and crack the Marvellous Maths Code before the final challenge.

Cans Compost & Paper (RL3)

How much rubbish do we create in a week? Can we recycle and reduce waste? Make your own recycled paper and find out how we can lesson our impact on the environment.
