June

Sixties Spectacular! The Animals + The Merseybeats + The Nashville Teens. Saturday 14th June - 7.00pm - £22.50
A most welcome return to one of our favourite bands - The Animals always live up to their reputation and to our expectations. With superb vocals, sheer raw energy and a repertoire that includes more than twenty global Top Ten hit records, The Animals stand proud on the British mantle-piece of Rock greats.
Featuring original members John Steel and Mickey Gallagher together with Pete Barton and Johnny Williamson this will be a superb night!

The Merseybeats were one of the better quartets to come out of the 60's British Beat Boom. The group's roots go back to the early '60s in Liverpool, and a city boiling over with musical activity. They signed to Fontana Records in mid-1963, and made their debut with a single "It's Love That Really Counts" a solid piece of pop/rock in the best eatles/Hollies/Searchers mode. They were signed by the Beatles' manager, Brian Epstein, the group was a fairly hard rock & roll outfit, but their singles tended much more to the pop side of rock & roll, In early 1964, the Merseybeats released a second single, "I Think of You" which reached number five in England. Further chart success came with "Don't Turn Around","Wishin' and Hopin'" and "Merseybeats on Stage," Then in mid '66 came their huge hit "Sorrow" later covered by David Bowie on Pin Ups in 1973, an acknowledgment of the appeal of their best work.

The Nashville Teens were distinguished by scoring a memorable and serious hit, "Tobacco Road."
This put them on the map internationally and their follow-up song, "Google Eye," reached number ten in England in the autumn of 1964. The group's rock & roll credentials were as solid as that of any English band as was demonstrated by the number of gigs they played backing visiting American stars. The Nashville Teens are musically flexible to a fault, capable of playing boogie-style rock & roll in the best Jerry Lee Lewis style or slightly bluesier and more folk-influenced songs, and even dabble in doo-wop!

July

Seventies Showstealers! SLADE + T-Rex
Saturday 12th July - 7.00pm - £25.00.

SLADE - Without doubt one of the most exciting bands to come out of Great Britain in the past 30 years. With their unique blend of perfect op/rock'n'roll, outrageous flamboyance and pure fun, and no less than 23 Top-20 singles of which 6 were No-1 smash hits….plus 6 smash albums, Slade have become firm favourite in the hearts of pop fans all over the world.
SLADE'S chart career has spanned 3 decades and their enduring songs "Cum On Feel The Noize" and "Coz I Luv You" are still featured today in TV commercials for some of the Worlds biggest companies.

Throughout the seventies, Slade became one of Europe's biggest bands, touring and recording continually. Slade's catalogue of hits are synonymous with the era:- "Take Me Bak 'Ome", "Mama We'er All Crazee Now", "Cum On Feel The Noize", "Gudbye T' Jane", along with the many others provided a soundtrack to the Glam Generation.
SLADE have continued to tour the world led by founder members Dave Hill and Don Powell, the bands latest additions are ex Mud bass guitarist John Berry, frequently spied in the guise of the Big Issue seller in Eastenders, and new lead vocalist Mal McNulty.

Slade today is still one of the most exciting bands on the road, and their stage performance is a dynamic, powerful and exhilarating roller-coaster ride of pure unadulterated rock'n'roll.

In September 1997, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Marc Bolan's untimely death, Mickey Finn and Paul Fenton reformed T-Rex.
Graham Oliver (ex Saxon), Rob Benson, Dave Major and Tony Allday complete the line up and the band have been touring throughout Europe and Japan ever since. Sadly Mickey Finn passed away in 2003 but the band decided to carry on playing Marc Bolan's songs and to continue bringing Marc and Mickey's timeless music to generations of fans. This will be a fantastic night at Conkers - don't miss it!

Guitar Greats! Are you Experienced? (Jimi Hendrix), Classic Clapton (Eric Clapton), Money for Nothing (Dire Straits). Saturday 16th August - 7.00pm - £20.00
Tonight will be a special treat of rock nostalgia and musical expertise featuring the exceptional music of Dire Straits, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix.
Formed in 2000 Money for Nothing has become the most successful tribute to Dire Straits in the UK.
This fine group of musicians recreates the sight and sound of the Straits in their heyday. Their spectacular show includes all the great Dire Straits hits - 'Sultans of Swing', 'Walk of Life', 'Romeo and Juliet', 'Brothers in Arms' etc. Fronting the band is the brilliant guitarist and Mark Knopfler sound-alike Aled Williams. Behind him the line-up features top-class musicians that make this band a worthy tribute to Dire Straits.

Classic Clapton is The World's No1 Eric Clapton Tribute Band performing all of EC's classic songs including 'Wonderful Tonight', 'Crossroads', 'I Shot The Sheriff', 'Cocaine' and of course 'Layla'!
Guitarist/vocalist Mike Hall not only looks like Eric, he sings and plays guitar like him too! In 1999, Mike won a national look-alike competition held at Madam Tussauds in London. Mike has met Slowhand twice, and even received a message of encouragement from the guitar maestro (written on a Concorde menu).
Tyne Tees Television were so impressed, they made a programme about them, called 'Cover their Tracks', shown in August 2000 to rave reviews. Since then 'Classic Clapton' have performed all over the UK including concerts at The Royal Festival Hall and Glastonbury Festival.

Recently featured on BBC 2's 'Arena', Are you Experienced? is now recognised as the leading Hendrix tribute in the world!
Guitarist John Campbell bears more than just a passing resemblance and has drawn on his many years of playing in different bands and various styles to perfect his 'Hendrix' persona. When he plays his strat behind his head and with his teeth, it brings a smile to the face of even the most finicky Hendrix fan.
Are you Experienced capture the excitement and explosive stage show of the JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE. Let the band take you through all the favourites like 'Hey Joe', 'Voodoo Chile', 'All Along The Watchtower', 'Foxy Lady' and 'Little Wing', culminating in the guitar-burning finale of Wild Thing.
