The weekend of July 3rd and 4th will see some rather unusual activities going on in the grounds of CONKERS.
Vikings of Middle England are most well-known for their frighteningly realistic, exciting and entertaining battle displays, which are usually used as a finale to the day’s event.
The Viking weaponry used by The Vikings of Middle England in the battles are steel replicas made to museum standards. Fighting routines are an intricately balanced mix of flamboyant and rehearsed combats and unscripted ‘free fights’, where the warriors gritty determination and extensive training in the use of Viking aged weaponry really come to light.
The Thunderous clash of steel as opposing forces meet, war cries mingling with the screams of the dying, the visual effect of these battles are stunning.
While the performances of battle are top class, educational qualities and historical significances will also be brought by the Vikings of Middle England, being sure to offer something for all the family.
Normal admission fees and opening times apply for entry to Conkers on the day of the event and all of the many activities and experiences such as the Conkachoo train, ranger activities and the Barefoot Walk will be running as usual.
As well as all the exciting things to do on the day, Conkers has now introduced an interactive exhibit in the Discovery Centre. The newly opened exhibit lets visitors observe the changing of the seasons as they walk through the enchanted forest, and see the leaves being kicked from underneath them as they move.
