Wildlife at Conkers

Thu 16 Dec 2010

Recently we have had a couple of exciting sightings of Goldcrests at our Forest Garden/Christmas grotto area. Goldcrests are Britain's smallest songbird, a tiny species with small rounded wings, large eyes and a distinctive orange or yellow stripe on their crown. They have a high pitched 'Tsee' call and are regularly found in coniferous woodlands where they feed on insects, spiders and sometimes small seeds. You may be lucky enough to see one visiting your garden this winter!
