A great way to experience some of the diverse wildlife we have here at CONKERS is to take a walk along our aptly named Wildlife Trail. This is our longest trail, taking you to the furthest point from the Discovery Centre. Whilst this isn’t one of our main attractions I thoroughly recommend taking some time to enjoy this area of the park; your efforts will be rewarded with a wide variety of wildflowers, butterflies, birds and even the occasional deer hiding in the Westminster Wood. A perfect place to eat a picnic and escape the summer crowds for a while!
Another area worth a look if you’re hunting wildlife is the Willow Swamp; you’ll see Dragon and Damsel flies manoeuvring erratically between the bulrushes. To explore beneath the surface and see what lurks in the murky depths you can sign up to go pond dipping every Sunday with one of our Educational Rangers. Pond dipping is just one of four Ranger led activities you can sign up for during the summer holidays, Orienteering (Wednesday and Saturday), Bushcraft (Monday and Thursday) and Sensory Art (Tuesday and Friday). Taking part in a Ranger led activity is sure to be a fun and exciting addition to your day, giving kids the chance to enjoy activities they may not get to do at school under expert guidance! All of these activities are available during the school summer holidays!
